Photo Gallery: Life on Tour Behind the Scenes

  • After a transcontinental flight, Shen Yun spent a relaxing morning in the picturesque French town of Annecy, just across the border from Geneva, where the 2014 European tour began last month.View from Annecy, south-eastern France. (photo by dancer Steve Feng)
  • A few of us got our morning cappuccinos at this charming café. We were soon reminded that, in Europe, you must declare your intent to stay or to go if you wish to avoid international incidents involving occupying tables with paper cups. (Steve Feng)
  • Paris... Enter if you dare. Outside the Louvre, Principal Dancer Ben Chen recalls the Bagua Formation - a famous military tactic used by legendary strategist Zhuge Liang in the epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms. With the help of a stone maze and mist, he alone turned back the entire enemy force. It was, well, amazing.
  • Classical East meets West (or, if you wish, Da Vinci code meets Taoist cosmology - Heaven, Earth and man). Principal Dancer Ben Chen at the Louvre. This shot quickly drew mimicking acts from other museum visitors. So if you've seen this elsewhere, remember Ben Chen has the copyright. The four great philosophers of Greek antiquity: Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and Steve. (Steve Feng's iPhone)
  • Paris - View of the Seine from the summit of the Eiffel Tower. (dancer Ben Chen)
  • Paris - View of Place des Invalides (Napoleon's tomb) from the Eiffel Tower. (Ben Chen)
  • Belgian waffle... (dancer Andy Shia)
  • The beautiful Teatre Nacional de Catalunya in Barcelona. (dancer Sebastien Chun)
  • Principal Dancer Alvin Song with his best impersonation of Principal Dancer Angelia Wang in the lobby of the Barcelona theater. (Sebastien Chun)
  • Shen Yun trumpet player Jimmy Geiger takes a moment to practice at a rest stop along the highway in France, en route from Brussels to Barcelona. (violinist David Chou)
  • Dancers Eric Wang (left) and Jeff Sun get some serious air before performing at Taiwan's Keelung Cultural Center.
  • When on tour, our dancers don't get many chances to see themselves in the mirror, but when they do, they - like Principal Dancer Faustina Quach - always check to see how high that leg is. (dancer Alison Chen)
  • Jumping for joy at the arrival of spring! From left: Principal Dancers Faustina Quach and Caroline Sercombe in Augusta, GA. (Alison Chen)
  • Dancers Crystal He, Cindy Liu, and Tien Chen bend Cloud Gate at Millennium Park in Chicago, IL. Notice the reflection. (Alison Chen)
  • It's not all life in the fast lane. Between shows in Louisville, KY, dancers Tien Chen (left) and Alison Chen found a spare moment to strike a pose at the bowling alley. Llama only has eyes for the camera, just not Alison Chen's camera.
  • Principal Dancer Cheryl Lin overlooking the hills of Spain's Catalonia. Where will life with Shen Yun take us next...?
  • You've seen how our dancers and musicians find great joy in performing for the audience. They also know how to have a good time off stage, and enjoy capturing these moments. Here are a few snapshots they recently took of life on tour.
