FRANKFURT—The Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company, on its European tour, performed at Frankfurt's Jahrhunderthalle on Friday evening, March 12.
The audience honored the performers with spontaneous applause throughout the show.
Ulf Krausch, dentist and dental implant specialist, and his companion Sandra Seip, an independent real estate salesperson, received tickets to Shen Yun from a friend.
"The show was enchanting," Dr. Krausch said. "In principle, it showed what China has to offer the world, such as the costumes and the traditional cultural dance from China's different regions, including Tibet and Mongolia."
He added, "We have seen interesting and colorful stories."
Dr. Krausch had visited China quite some time ago and much has changed since then.
The scene Nothing Can Block the Divine Path touched his heart.
"I took special note of the family that was persecuted because of its spiritual leanings. It appealed to me, and from an artistic point of view it was performed extremely well."
Ms. Seip agreed with him and said the show was amazing. She believed that she had an expert eye, as she is a frequent visitor to musicals and shows.
The Shen Yun Orchestra, which features renowned performers and composers from around the world, consists of classical Western instruments as its foundation complemented with traditional Chinese instruments, providing the all-original compositions.
"The music was fabulous. A very interesting synchronization, given the Chinese instruments," she said. "Absolutely fantastic."
The tenor "was tops," she said. And she was impressed by the erhu, a traditional Chinese two-stringed instrument with very rich sounds.
The traditional values displayed by the Shen Yun performers made a deep impression on her.
"What I have seen tonight is a quality show and is thought-provoking. The show is much deeper than anything else one sees nowadays."
She continued, "This type of show returns society to a traditional lifestyle, and I'm very pleased about that, especially if it results in pointing people into that direction. This is extremely important for all cultures."
A Federal Government head of department and attorney, and her husband, were also in the audience and enjoyed the show very much.
"The show was out of this world," the attorney said. "It was beautiful and I couldn't take my eyes off the stage."
She added, "The male dancers were outstanding."
She particularly enjoyed the dance In a Miao Village, saying it was very impressive and highly expressive. She also mentioned that the choreography was outstanding and everything was extremely well coordinated.
Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company will perform two more shows in the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt on March 13-14. On its European Tour Shen Yun will perform in 13 European countries with 34 shows from March 5 to April 28. Shen Yun opened in Amsterdam, Holland, on March 5 and will finish in Cardiff, U.K., on April 28.
