LOUISVILLE, Kentucky—Carl Meeks, a taiji teacher, attended the Shen Yun Performing Arts show at The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts on March 7.
Mr. Meeks enjoyed the Shen Yun show, saying, "It's entertaining, it's very good."
Two friends, Susanna Cooper, originally from the Czech Republic, and Virginia Smith, both taiji students of Mr. Meeks', had come together.
Susanna said: "I like the show, for every dance has a story ... very interesting."
She also practices martial arts and was impressed with the movements in classical Chinese dance and even could see that some martial elements came from the dance movements. "I also do martial arts so I can sort of see the elements of it in the dances, which is absolutely fantastic."
At this time, Virginia joined into the conversation and talked about the backdrop. The 3-D backdrop enhanced the dances with scenery from China, giving them a feel of being in China.
"I like the backdrop and the music and the interaction, the connection between the dance and the choreography. It's very nice. Oh yes, and we both like the introductions before each dance. We thought that was a nice touch," said Virginia.
Virginia spoke of the two emcees that introduced each dance and vocal performance before the curtain opened.
Susanna agreed with Virginia's remark about the emcees, "The introductions to the dance scenes was very amazing,"

Shen Yun will be performing next on March 9 and 10, at 7:00 p.m., at the Murat Theatre, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
