Jing Xuan began the study of music in her childhood, becoming a professional pipa (Chinese lute) player at the age of fifteen. Many musical pieces written by her have won composition prizes. During her four years at the Conservatory of China, she pursued studies in composition, music literature, and ethnomusicology. Later, Jing Xuan was awarded a scholarship to Oxford University to pursue an M.Phil and D.Phil in ethnomusicology. She has also studied computer-based composition and music technology at Britain’s Reading University. She is currently a performer and composer with Shen Yun Performing Arts.
