Shen Yun Returns to Washington’s Kennedy Center in August
Company returns to the prestigious opera house for the fourth time in two seasons
August 4, 2010

From August 25 to the 29, Shen Yun Performing Arts’ New York Company will play six shows at the Washington, DC Kennedy Center Opera House. The performance will feature numbers from this year’s world tour, as well as select favorites from past seasons.

The performances are presented by New Tang Dynasty Television - DC, and the Falun Dafa Association of Washington DC. The shows are also being sponsored by Asia Vision Foundation, Capitol File Magazine, and the Lantos foundation for Human Rights and Justice.

The Kennedy Center Opera House is part of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, which opened in 1971 overlooking the Potomac River. For four decades, the Center has been fulfilling President Kennedy’s vision of art as “a form of truth” and the importance of “our contribution to the human spirit.” The New York Times once described the Kennedy Center as “a gigantic marble temple to music, dance, and drama.”

Shen Yun first performed at the Kennedy Center in February 2009. The performances’ astounding success – with rave reviews from members of Congress and other Washington dignitaries – led to the company’s return that August and again in February 2010. This month’s performances mark Shen Yun’s fourth visit to the Kennedy Center in 18 months.
